Content Management Conversion - Typical Steps
- Pre-build/Survey (a few hours)
- Survey
- Determine priorities based on needs
- Review existing site - quantify data for conversion process
- Build (less than one day)
- Install CMS
- Build structure into CMS to support existing/planned data
- Find first cut template
- Mock-up header (sample client-specific graphics)
- Populate and Tweak (one day/10 pages)
- Convert content from old site to new site
- Review/inspect/adjust based on input
- Customize graphics/layout/fonts/colors
- Launch (less than one day)
- Training
- Documentation
- Follow-up recommendations of what's needed next
Deliverables
- A completed client survey. Based on this we can estimate the time necessary for the conversion.
- A draft template of your future website. This will be a simple image showing the major areas as they will appear in your home page. It is important to note in this phase, few elements are final. An agreement on the general layout will be needed, but all other elements will be subject to change in the next phase.
- Once changes and requirements are fully met, the new CMS-based website with its final graphics, layouts, fonts, and colors.
- Online user guide for managing the content of the new site
