Content Management Conversion - Information and Pricing Expectations

Often times, static websites need to be converted to content management systems (CMS). The primary focus of a CMS is to separate the data from the presentation. The approach also provides many advantages such as, template based, built-in admin and security, and reduced maintenance costs. Best of all, no need for applications like Frontpage or long term reliance on HTML coders to make simple changes.

We use open source products such as Mambo and Joomla as the base system and then integrate appropriate modules and industry-specific functionality as needed. We provide guidance in selecting a template and integrating graphics to achieve the desired look and feel.

Below you will find a brief description of services, project steps, deliverables, and some pricing expectations.

New site, new content, new layout

All new site designs begin with a client survey sheet. It's important to complete this survey early on to set expectations and organize priorities. You should review this survey prior to the initial meeting.

Our services typically include:

  • Template selection matching design layout concept
  • Graphic design based on company logo and theme
  • Layout changes
  • Revisions to graphic headers
  • Installation of content management system
  • Creation of the structure to support data
  • Addition of keywords for search engines
  • Online training documentation specific to your needs

Pricing expectations

Due to the variable nature of this type of work, it's generally not possible to give a one-price-fits-all. However, a simple conversion with five pages of copy and a few images starts at about $750. The variable portion of pricing is based upon your requirements. One example is if the converted site to needs look identical to the existing site, you should then budget at least $1,500 just for this portion. Another variable is the amount of content/copy that must be moved/integrated into the new site.

If you would like a more accurate estimate, complete the survey and send us a note with your current site and we'll provide you with a quote.
